For a Belgian document, the chain usually starts with the issuing authority or a notary, continues with the FPS Foreign Affairs and ends with the embassy or consulate of the country where the document will be used. Commercial documents may also need a chamber of commerce certification. Each step has its own rules, fees and appointments.

Do I have to go to the embassy myself?
